BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team notched its first Heartland Conference victory with a 1-0 shutout at Manchester on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024. Bluffton upped its season mark to 4-5-2 overall and 1-2 in the Heartland Conference, while Manchester stayed winless at 0-8-1 and 0-3 in the HCAC.
The visitors piled up a 26-5 advantage in shots, including 16-2 on frame, but it was the one from Morgan Jarvis (Powell/Dublin Scioto) in minute 39 that mattered as she netted the only goal for either team on Wednesday night. Senior Rilynn Kaufmann (Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) found Jarvis for her first assist of the season.
Freshmen Parker Penhorwood (Bellefontaine) and Brysan Brewer (Middletown) led the offense with six and five shots, respectively. Senior Brielle Collier (Anna) came up with two saves in her shutout of the Spartans.
Bluffton piled up 15 corner kicks, compared to just one for the home team. The Beavers were whistled for seven more fouls (10-3).
The Bluffton women will travel to Franklin College for a 1 p.m. meeting with the Grizzlies on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024.
