BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team gave Heartland Conference heavyweight Anderson all it could handle in a 2-0 loss to the Ravens on an overcast Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025. Bluffton dipped to 5-9 overall and 0-5 in the conference, while AU improved to 7-3-3 and 4-0-1 in the HCAC.
The Beavers went toe-to-toe with Anderson through the first half of the first half as both teams had chances to get on the scoreboard. Kennedy Hurst connected with Emily Metzger at the 23:18 mark, breaking the ice while giving the visitors a 1-0 lead. It remained a one-goal difference until the final minute when Natalie Marcum hit paydirt for the 2-0 Anderson victory.
Bluffton fired 12 shots, including six on frame, while the visitors finished with 32 (19 on target). The home team forced all three corner kicks and it was whistled for seven more fouls (17-10).
Sophomores Brysan Brewer (Middletown) and Katie Singleton (Hamilton/Badin) led the Beavers with three shots apiece.
Freshman keeper Madison Kutscher (Rossford) had a standout performance, turning away 17 Anderson shots, many from point blank range. Junior Jenn Specht (Fairfield) and freshman Naomi Diekman (Grandville, Mich./Jenison) both played key roles in Bluffton holding the visitors to just one goal through the first 89+ minutes.
Bluffton is back at the Sears Complex for Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 19. Kickoff with the Franklin College Grizzlies is slated for 1 p.m. with the senior introductions prior to the match.
