BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team evened up its season mark at 4-4 with a 3-0 shutout of Olivet on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025. The Comets fell to 2-7 on the year.
Junior Mya Vernon (Toledo/Central Catholic) connected with sophomore Brysan Brewer (Middletown) just over 10 minutes into the match for a quick 1-0 Bluffton lead. She made it 2-0 in minute 29 with her second tally of the opening stanza.
The two-goal spread was nice but number three was the ice as Brewer pushed the lead to 3-0 in minute 53. Her hat trick capped the scoring on Wednesday night and it was the most goals for a Beaver since Alyssa Kester hit paydirt four times against Defiance in 2023.
Bluffton piled up a 23-14 advantage in total shots, including 15-6 on frame. The Beavers were especially offensive in the opening stanza with a 15-2 edge in shots. The home team was whistled for six more fouls (10-4), but Bluffton forced three more corner kicks (8-5).
Vernon and Morgan Jarvis (Powell/Dublin Scioto) fired away with eight and six shots, respectively. Brewer placed all four of her shots on target, including the three which hit found the back of the net!
Bluffton jumps into Heartland Conference action with a trip to Lexington, Ky. on Saturday, Sept. 27. Kickoff with the Transylvania Pioneers is slated for 1 p.m.
