WOOSTER, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team held host Wooster at bay in the first half, but the Fighting Scots broke through for three tallies in the final stanza. Wooster stays perfect at 3-0, while the visitors slipped to 1-2 on the season just one day after Head Coach Zach Hammon welcomed the newest Beaver to Bluffton!
Freshman keeper Madison Kutscher (Rossford) turned away four Wooster shots in the opening 45 minutes as the score remained deadlocked heading to the second half.
Wooster broke the tie with a Julie Struck tally at the 56:23 mark and 10 minutes later, Bella Compton made it 2-0. Wooster tacked on a final score in minute 83 as the Scots capped off their 3-0 shutout on a beautiful Wednesday night.
Sophomore Katie Singleton (Hamilton/Badin) fired the only two shots for Bluffton which was on the wrong end of a 31-2 stat line. The Fighting Scots forced 10 of the 11 corner kicks and the Beavers were whistled for two more fouls (8-6).
Kutscher and Sydney Sherick (Findlay/Van Buren) combined for 12 saves in the 3-0 setback.
Bluffton will play its fourth match in nine days when the Beavers travel to Saint Mary's College in South Bend, Ind. on Saturday, Sept. 6. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
