ALBION, Mich. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team traveled to Albion College for the 2025 season opener on a very temperate Friday, August 29. Albion scored the first five goals en route to an 8-1 victory over the visitors.
A Chloe Salo hat trick helped the host Britons to a commanding 5-0 lead before sophomore Parker Penhorwood (Bellefontaine) found the back of the net in minute 33. Albion tacked on two additional scores before the break and one more early in the second half for the final 8-1 margin on Friday night.
Sophomore Reece Lawler (Vandalia/Butler) chipped in with a pair of shots to go along with Penhorwood's first-half tally. Fellow sophomore Sydney Sherick (Findlay/Van Buren) finished with six saves in the first 45 minutes. Freshman Madison Kutscher (Rossford) turned away one Briton offering during the second half.
Albion forged a 24-6 advantage in total shots, including 15-2 on frame. The Britons were whistled for two more fouls (10-8) and they forced three of the five corner kicks.
The Beavers will jump right back into action on Monday, Sept. 1, when they host long-time rival Defiance College at 7 p.m. on Alumni Field under the lights for the 2025 home opener. Come out and support your Beavers!
