BLUFFTON, Ohio - It was Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Alumni Field as Bluffton celebrated the final home game for 14 Beaver football players and one cheerleader. There would be little for Bluffton to celebrate once the game got started as they fell behind right out of the gate and were unable to recover. Hanover cruised to a 48-0 shutout win over the Beavers. With the loss, Bluffton dropped to 5-3 overall with a 3-2 mark in conference play, while Hanover improved to 6-2 and stayed undefeated at 5-0 in the HCAC.
Right out of the gate, the Panthers would take their opening drive 70 yards to go up 7-0, before scoring again on their following drive on one play to take a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Beavers were unable to produce on offense as two more back-to-back scores for the visitors put Hanover up 28-0 at the break. The second half would be much of the same as one touchdown in the third and a pair in the fourth for the Panthers added up to a 48-0 win.
Hanover controlled the game, erupting for 586 yards of total offense while holding the Beavers to just 191 yards for the day. With 99 yards through the air, Tywuan Clark (Toledo/Central Catholic) completed 10-of-16 passes, but turned it over with three interceptions. Jashawn Wyckoff (Cleveland/Cleveland Heights) led the receiving corps, hauling in four catches for 52 yards. On the ground, Jamarrion Banks (Cleveland Heights/Garfield Heights) went for 35 yards on eight carries, with Damien Brockington (Tiffin/Columbian) and Jaivon Hudson (Bedford) tallied 23 yards apiece.
The Bluffton defense struggled against the top-seed Hanover, but Jaydon McBreen (Portland, Ore./Westview) piled up a team-high 11 tackles, all solo, with Mason Brandon (Louisville, Ky./Meade County) and Brandon Resnover (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) each contributing six tackles on the day. Aaron Carmack-Lovett (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) nabbed Bluffton's lone tackle for loss that went for minus five yards.
It will be a road trip south and west as Bluffton travels to Franklin College to face the Grizzlies on Saturday, Nov. 8, with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
