Jake Harmon named Heartland POTW

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University senior Jake Harmon (Van Wert/Crestview) has been named the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his dominating performance in Bluffton's 28-18 Homecoming win over Hanover on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016.

Harmon piled up 14 tackles which included a sack. He finished with 11 solos, a QB hurry and a breakup on a pass that was intercepted by Trent Long (Elida) one play before Raphael Dell's (Cincinnati/Hughes) 3rd touchdown of the day made the score 28-10.

The linebacker is putting together a stellar senior year as he tops the team with 48 tackles. He has five TFL's, two QB hurries, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a sack.

Harmon is the third HCAC Player of the Week for the Beavers this season. Senior running back Dante Carroll (Gahanna/Lincoln) was the Heartland Offensive Player of the Week following Bluffton's win at Trine on September 10. Freshman JERRELL POINTDEXTER (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) was the Heartland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following Bluffton's 66-22 win at Anderson last week thanks to a 75-yard punt return for a score.

Bluffton will host Manchester on Saturday with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m. Come out and fill up Salzman Stadium when the Spartans come to town!
