BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team kept pace with HCAC-stalwart Transylvania University through the first two sets before the Pioneers pulled away for a four-set win on Senior Day. Bluffton fell to 12-18 overall and 1-6 in the Heartland Conference, while Transy upped its mark to 20-6 and 6-1 in league play on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025.
Bluffton evened up the match at 1-1 after taking its first set from Transylvania since 2021. The Beavers dropped the lidlifter 25-20 before knotting it up with a 25-23 victory in set two. The visitors responded with a 25-9 shellacking and then they capped it off with a 25-19 score in the clincher.
Bekah Pack (Lexington) had a monster Senior Day, ramming home nine kills against just one error for a .381 hitting percentage. Fellow senior Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) sparkled with 16 kills of her own. Sophomore Madison Brentlinger (Indian Lake) spanked eight winners, while junior Kasey Sager (Troy) tallied six kills.
Back-row specialists and seniors, Emma Organ (Lambertville, MI/St. Ursula Academy) and Abby Lawhorn (Cable/Mechanicsburg) led the way with 19 digs apiece. Gabby Williams (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem) picked up 14 digs, while Woods scored a double-double with 11 pickups. Williams handed out 36 assists to the Beaver hitters. Pack stuffed the Pioneers with four blocks, including a pair of solos.
Blufton travels to Anderson University for a crucial 7 p.m. matchup with the Ravens on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The Beavers need a win to stay in contention for a Heartland Conference tournament berth.
