BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Ohio Northern Polar Bears snapped Bluffton's 12 match winning streak with a sweep of the Beavers in front of a packed Sommer Center on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024. Bluffton dipped to 12-2, while the visitors from Ada improved to 6-2 on the season.
Following a 25-8 loss in the lidlifter, Bluffton made its adjustments and gave Ohio Northern the match everyone was hoping to see. The Polar Bears won the second by a 25-19 count and then they had to rally for the sweep with a 25-23 nailbiter.
Junior Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) put away a team-high 15 winners for the good guys. Her running mate, Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta), chipped in with eight kills. Sophomores Gabby Williams (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem) and Mallory Fluharty (Wooster/Triway) dished out 15 and 14 assists, respectively.
Abby Lawhorn (Cable/Mechanisburg) picked up 12 digs, while Kasey Sager (Troy) was in on four blocks. Freshman Saniyah Terry (Macomb, MI/L Anse Creuse HS North) added eight pickups.
Bluffton will hit the pause button this weekend before a trip to Wooster next Wednesday, Sept. 25. First serve with the Fighting Scots is slated for 7 p.m.
