BLUFFTON, Ohio - Sophomore Abby Lawhorn (Cable/Mechanicsburg) has been named the Heartland Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. It marks the third time in three weeks that a Beaver has earned HCAC recognition with Chloei Barnett the offensive player of the week to open the season and Kasey Sager (Troy) following that up the defensive POTW honors one week ago!
Lawhorn earned All-Tournament acclaim following the Sommer Center Spiketacular after picking up 6.0 digs per set (96 digs). Bluffton went 4-0, improving to 12-1 on the season with its 12th straight win. It marks the most consecutive victories since the Beavers won 17 straight in 2009.
Bluffton is back in the Sommer Center on Wednesday, Sept. 18, when local rival Ohio Northern makes the short trip from Ada. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
