Beavers put together top performances at Hiram

HIRAM, Ohio - Bluffton University's Swim and Dive team traveled to Hiram College to compete against Hiram and Chatham University on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026. The Beavers competed in a 25-meter pool, instead of the usual 25-yard pool, and delivered notable performances. 
 
Sophomore Jami Baker (Lowell, Ind.) had an amazing performance in all of her events. Baker competed in the 800-meter freestyle, placing 2nd with a time of 11:11.57. Baker also competed in the 50-meter breaststroke, getting a time of 40.27 and 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:30.22, placing 1st in both!
 
Junior Juliana Brooks (Canton/McKinley) had an outstanding performance at this past weekend's meet. Brooks swam the 50-meter freestyle, placing 4th with a time of 38.35. Brooks also competed in the 50-meter backstroke (41.46) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:35.72), placing 4th in both events. 
 
Sophomore Landon Gardner (Whitehall, Mich./Grand Haven) had an outstanding performance. Gardner competed in the 50-meter freestyle, placing 1st and finishing with a time of 28.09! Gardner competed in the 50-meter backstroke, placing 2nd with a time of 34.81. Gardner's final event was the 100-meter breaststroke, placing 2nd with a time of 1:29.32. 
 
Senior Riley Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local) competed in the 50-meter breaststroke, placing 3rd with a time of 41.48. Bruns also competed in the 50-meter freestyle, placing 4th with a time of 30.23. 
 
The Beavers return to the home pool against Ashland on Friday, Jan. 23. Bluffton will host their Senior Night to celebrate its seniors. Go Beavers!
