The Bluffton University swimming and diving team kicked off their 2025-26 season on Saturday, Oct. 25. The Beavers traveled to Hanover, Ind., to compete against Hanover College and Manchester University. They had an amazing start to the season by breaking a couple of records, personal bests and also snatching a few first places!
Junior Grant Patton (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) competed in the 100-yard backstroke, placing 3rd with a time of 1:07.85! Patton placed 2nd in the 50-yard backstroke (31.66) and 5th in the 50-yard freestyle (26.82).
Sophomore Landon Gardner (Whitehall, Mich./Grand Haven) had an amazing start to the season by breaking the record in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:07.24 and placing 3rd! Gardner placed 4th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.09, making his time the 2nd all-time and his 50-yard breaststroke (34.78) 2nd all-time as well.
Senior Sydney Grisier (Bryan), who also had an outstanding start to the season, broke her school record in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 36.33 while also placing 4th! Grisier placed 3rd in the 50-yard backstroke, making her time (39.46) 2nd all-time in the record book.
Sophomore Jami Baker (Lowell, Ind.) competed in the 50-yard breaststroke, placing 1st with a time of 35.16, making that 3rd all-time in the record book. She also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.55), placing 1st. Baker took 2nd in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:07.75, claiming 2nd all-time in the record books.
The Beavers return to the pool when they travel to Malone University in Canton, Ohio, on Friday, Nov. 7. Go Beavers!
