Mix of youth and experience highlights roster in 2021-22

HCAC Pre-season Coaches Poll

Although the 2021-22 Bluffton University women's golf team will have two of its five seniors in Chicago as part of their academic programs, the cupboard is far from bare with a banner recruiting class set to join the team this fall! The Beavers continued to make entering records in pencil a necessity as the 2020-21 women moved to the top of nearly every category once again. At the top of the 18-hole scoring list is Brylee Oberdorf (Clyde/Green Springs) who broke the mark she shared with Haley Gill (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) when she fired an 81 at Findlay, moving their 83's to second all-time. The trend of record-breaking performances should continue into 2021-22.

Senior Keely Briggs (Franklin) is back for her final season with the Beavers after coming to Bluffton as part of Head Coach Adam Craig's second recruiting class. She will be the lone fourth-year senior golfing with Oberdorf and Abby Bullion (Bellevue) off campus this year. Gill is already etched into the record book with a career scoring average of 93.2 and the low 54-hole score of 269, set at the 2021 HCAC Women's Golf Championship. Her 92.32 season average from 2020-21 is also 2nd to Oberdorf on the all-time list.

Marissa Hall (Avon) and Grace Branson (Carlisle) will need just three years to complete their requirements at Bluffton so they will join Briggs for her final year as a Beaver. A steady diet of golf played by the stellar group of six newcomers this summer has Coach Craig confident his newest recruiting class will make waves immediately with nearly half of his team in their first year at Bluffton.

A 6th place finish at the 2020-21 HCAC Championships has the Bluffton women revved up as the Beavers get ready to tee off this fall. A trip to Denison opens up the season on Saturday, Sept. 4, with six rounds of golf over nine days before the Beaver Fall Classic on Sept. 18-19. Bluffton heads to Allegheny College a week later and then finishes up its fall season with the HCAC Championship at the Legends Golf Club from October 8-10.
