SHELBYVILLE, Ind. - The Beavers traveled down to Blue River Cross Country Course for the HCAC Championships and the Beavers left it all on the course on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025.
The men's squad kicked off the day and were led by senior Jarrod Roudebush (Coshocton) who crossed the line in 29:47. The trip of Sophomore Kaden McWatters (Genoa/Genoa Area), junior Micah Dodson (Wooster/Central Christian), and sophomore Malcolm Hudson (Villa Rica, Georgia/Villa Rica) pushed each other all through the race, finishing within 30 seconds of each other with times of 31:31, 31:42, and 32:02, respectively. The race was an over 2-minute PR for Hudson.
The women's squad toed the line next and they were led by Sara Smith (Mansfield/Madison Comprehensive) who continued her strong sophomore campaign with a 12th place finish in a time of 24:03 which earned her 1st-Team All-HCAC Honors! Sophomore Kamryn McDonald (Marion/Harding) finished next for the squad, crossing the line in 29:16 which was 25 seconds faster than last years championships for her. The freshmen duo of Josie Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local) and Katie Garrison (Caldonia) pushed each other each step of the way and finished with times of 31:50 and 31:52 respectively. That was a minute PR for Garrison on Saturday.
"I thought the day went well overall. We saw a lot of gutsy performances on both sides and are excited to see what we can do in two weeks at Louisville to close out the cross country season," stated Head Coach Connor Gulick. The Beavers now have two more weeks before they travel down to Louisville, KY, for the Great Lakes Regional meet to wrap up the season on Saturday, Nov. 15.
