OBERLIN, Ohio - The Beavers traveled to Oberlin College on an unusually warm fall day for the Inter-Regional Rumble, featuring teams from all over in our one last tune up before the HCAC Championships.
The women's squad kicked off the day and were led by Sara Smith (Mansfield/Madison Comprehensive), who continues her historic sophomore year as she shaved another 18 seconds off her best and moved up to 5th all time in school history as she finished 29th overall and 3rd amongst HCAC runners. Sophomore Kamryn McDonald (Marion/Harding) crossed the line next, finishing in 28:54. Freshman Josie Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local) rounded out the women's team with a time of 32:29.
The men then followed up the women's race and were led by senior Jarrod Roudebush (Coshocton) who improved from two weeks ago and crossed the line in 28:58. Junior Micah Dodson (Wooster/Central Christian) crossed the line next for the Beavers, finishing in 33:28. Sophomore Malcolm Hudson (Villa Rica, GA/Villa Rica) rounded out the men's team with a time of 36:53.
"Overall, I thought we had a solid day as a group," Head Coach Connor Gulick said, "The weather was definitely a shock with the huge jump in temperature, but our team kept fighting every step of the way all the way through the line."
The Beavers now have two weeks before they take on the rest of the HCAC in the Cross Country Championships at Blue River Cross Country Course in Shelbyville, Ind. on Saturday, Nov. 1.
