Beavers run season bests at Ohio Wesleyan

POWELL, Ohio - The Beavers traveled to Liberty Park for the always competitive Ohio Wesleyan University Invite featuring competition from all divisions on Friday, Oct. 3.

The men kicked off the night and were once again led by senior Jarrod Roudebush (Coshocton) with a time of 31:00. Sophomore Kaden McWatters (Genoa/Genoa Area) was close on his heels running a big season-best time of 31:21, shaving over a minute from just two weeks ago. Junior Micah Dodson (Wooster/Central Christian) came across the line next with a time of 33:08. Rounding out the squad for the men was sophomore Malcolm Hudson (Villa Rica, GA/Villa Rica) who made his season debut after coming back from injury, crossing the line in 35:10.

The women's team was led by a historic night from sophomore Sara Smith (Mansfield/Madison Comprehensive) who ran a big time personal record of 23:47 which was almost a minute PR and places her 8th all-time on the 6k record board. Next across the line was sophomore Kamryn McDonald (Marion/Harding) who also came home with a PR with a time of 28:26. The freshmen duo of Josie Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local) and Laina Camp (Marion/Harding) were next across the line for the Beavers who both made their 6k debut, running 30:01 and 31:19, respectively. Freshman Katie Garrison (Caledonia/River Valley) rounded out the squad with a 50-second PR running 32:53.

"I thought that both squads battled extremely well today," Head Coach Connor Gulick said. "The team was coming off a tough month of training and entering October, I think this team can do a lot of great things when we get to conference and regionals."

The Beavers will be off next weekend before heading to Oberlin for the Inter-Regional Rumble in their last tune-up before HCAC Championships.
