DELAWARE, Ohio - The Beavers hit the road for Ohio Wesleyan for the Marv Frye Invitational for Easter weekend on Saturday, April 4, and despite the windy conditions the Beavers came home with a host of PR performances
On the men's side, Senior Coen North (Denver, Col./North) stayed undefeated on the season in the javelin with a toss of 54.81 meters. Tony Smith (Toledo/Sylvania Southview) had an outdoor PR in shot put with a toss of 11.09 meters. Fellow freshman Thomas Sharper (Sumter, SC) had a huge PR in the hammer throw with a toss of 25.08 meters.
In the sprints, freshman Quince Reese (Killeen, Texas/Ellison) led the way with a 6th place finish in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.90 seconds, qualifying for the HCAC Championships and finishing 5th in the 400 hurdles with a PR of 59.50 seconds. Sophomore Devin Homan (Dayton/Stebbins) had a PR in the 400 with a time of 52.85. Freshman Jaden Ngufor (London, Ont.) had a strong day running and PR'd in the 100 with a time of 11.66 and then came back later in the day to run a 200 meter PR with a time of 24.73 in a strong head wind. Junior Mathias Garcia (Fort Wayne, Ind./New Haven) and freshman Demari Bailey (Hiram, Ga.) also had PR's in the 100 with times of 11.79 and 11.86, respectively.
In the jumps, Bailey had a PR in long jump with a leap of 6.03 meters while sophomore Hassan Greene (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Snyder) had an outdoor PR in triple jump with a mark of 12.06 meters
In the distance, senior Jarrod Roudebush (Coshocton) led the way in the 800 with a time of 2:13.23 while junior Micah Dodson (Wooster/Central Christian) led the way in the 1500 with a time of 5:24.42.
On the women's side, sophomore Sara Smith (Mansfield/Madison Comprehensive) led the way with a 6th place finish in the 1500 with a time of 5:11.54 and then came back later in the day in the 800 with a time of 2:37.65. Freshman Katie Garrison (Caledonia/River Valley) also had a PR in the 1500 with a time of 6:32.32.
In the sprints, junior Sharon Keefer (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) had a strong day as she notched a PR in the 400 with a time of 1:05.92, shaving four seconds from her time a week ago and then she came back and had a PR in the 200 with a time of 29.73.
In the jumps, junior Amelia Adams (Celina) cleared 2.80 meters in pole vault and had a mark of 4.50 meters in long jump.
In the throws, freshman Alana Alexander-Davis (Sandusky) led the charge in shot put with a mark of 7.84 meters while senior Ella Myers (McClure/Patrick Henry) led the way in javelin with a toss of 20.50 meters.
The Beavers will be back in action at Mount Union on Friday, April 10, for javelin and hammer while the rest of the events will take place on Saturday, April 11.
