LEXINGTON, Kent. - The Bluffton Beavers men's soccer squad would open up conference play on the road, traveling south to face off against the Transylvania Pioneers. It would be a struggle offensively for Bluffton, as they would be unable to find a goal as they would be shutout in a 5-0 loss. The Beavers now sit at 2-6-1, while starting with an 0-1 record in the HCAC while the Pioneers improve to 5-2-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
The hosts would get the ball rolling in the 13th minute, taking a 1-0 lead before a goal 17 minutes later put them up 2-0 going into the half. Coming out of the half, Transylvania would find the back of the net in the 49th minute and then in the 52nd minute to take a 4-0 lead. Unable to find a goal of their own, Bluffton would allow the Pioneers to score again in the 76th minute as they would cruise to a 5-0 victory, with all five goals being scored by a different player.
The Beavers struggled to keep control of the ball, getting outshot 9-3, and only getting one shot on frame in 90 minutes. Leonardo Campos(Santiago, Chile / Campbellsville University) would have Bluffton's lone shot on goal in the game, with Breshon Jacobs (Rushylvania, Ohio / Benjamin Logan) recording 3 saves in the box.
Bluffton will look to put this game in their rearview mirror as they will have a week off before traveling back down to Kentucky to face the Berea College Mountaineers on Saturday, Oct. 4 with a 3:30 p.m. kick off.
