Beavers fall to Ashland in Inaugural Valorant match

By: Colton Steiner

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University Valorant squad would go down in history, competing as the program's first team in school history as they would face off against the Ashland Eagles. Despite a strong second half, they would be unable to force a comeback as they fell 2-0 to start the season at a record of 0-1.

Starting the game on defense, they managed to hold the Eagles to a 7-5 after round one of the first game. After tying the game at 8-8 on the attack, Ashland would outscore the Beavers 5-0 to win round one 13-8.

The Beavers would open up round two with a 4-0 lead after starting on the attacking side and would wind up leading 7-5 at the break of round 2. Despite being up in front, they would be unable to stop the Eagles offensive attack as the visitors would sneak away with a 14-12 win in the round, sealing a 2-0 win over Bluffton.

Kicking right back into action next week, the team will go up against the Sault College Cougars on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
