BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University Rocket League Purple esports team would go head-to-head with the Rochester Institute of Technology team, the RIT Academy Yellow squad, in a neck-and-neck battle, with RIT Academy Yellow coming out on top with a 3-2 win over the Beavers. With the loss, Bluffton falls to 1-2 on the season, while RIT improves to 2-2 in the conference.
The Beavers would get out to a 2-0 victory to start the first game, before a 2-1 victory would get them up 2-0 in the contest, one game away from victory. Defense proved to be strong for Rochester, as they would hold Bluffton to no goals in the third game of the evening, with them being able to put a goal on the board to cut the deficit to Beaver lead to 2-1. After two quick goals from RIT in game four, Bluffton would pull within one, but was unable to even up the score, as RIT Academy Yellow would even up the series 2-2. Momentum would be all in Rochester's favor, as they would score three unanswered goals in the final game, and while the Beavers would put a goal on the board, they would be unable to get any goals past a tough defense, as RIT would execute the reverse sweep and knock off the Beavers 3-2.
Bluffton will look to put this loss in their rearview mirror as they look ahead as they prepare to face off against Dakota State University's DCU C Team on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 9:45 p.m. All games can be viewed on Twitch at twitch.tv/blufftonesports.
